Cavan

Republic of Ireland

The River Erne is surrounded by a huge amount of little "mini" lakes. Known collectively as Lough Oughter, they are home to many types of wildlife, including the whooper swans in the winter.

The Ulster Senior Football Championship has been won by the Cavan team more than any other!

The Shannon River, which is the largest river in Ireland, starts in County Cavan somewhere near the side of the Cuilcagh Mountains. It's a small little pool better known as the Shannon Pot.

Have you ever wanted to explore the depths of a cave? Or what about ride the rivers in a little boat? At Marble Arch Caves Geopark, you can! The cool thing is, the Geopark in both Cavan and Fermanagh.
