From the Inside Flap

Ireland is rich in history, legends, and symbolic reminders of the country's early Celtic roots. Combining all three elements into one series of easy-to-remember poems, this alphabet book allows young readers to explore this magical realm from A to Z.

From the banshee's cry and the leprechaun's pot of gold to the Rock of Dunamase and Kilkenny Castle, each entry provides an educational and entertaining overview of Irish culture. Along with beautiful illustrations, this alphabetic adventure includes lyrics to a traditional Irish song, a glossary of terms, and a list of Ireland's thirty-two counties.

Rickey E. Pittman, storyteller, author, and guitarist/singer, presents his sto-ries, music, and programs at Celtic festivals through-out the South. He was the grand prize winner of the 1998 Ernest Hemingway Short Story Competition. A freelance editor and writer, Pittman worked closely with regional Louisiana arts councils to write historical plays for three parishes. He is also the author of four other books with Pelican, including Scottish Alphabet, his first collaboration with Connie McLennan. Pittman resides in Monroe, Louisiana.
